Patek Philippe: The Ladies Twenty~4
04 December 20
Patek Philippe introduces two new references to the Twenty~4 collection for 2020.
A mainstay of the Patek Philippe collection since its introduction in 1999, the Patek Philippe Twenty~4 is an elegant watch that is exquisitely crafted, using the generations of knowledge obtained by the master craftsmen and women at the Manufacture.
2020 has seen an update to the stainless steel Patek Philippe Twenty~4 collection with the introduction of two new references 4910/1200A-001 with blue sunburst dial and 4900/1200A-010 with a grey sunburst dial and black gradations. These two references are a subtle update to the incredibly popular Twenty~4 quartz models that have adorned the wrist of many women over the last several decades. Gone are the Roman numerals and the diamond border of the previous generation and in their place are contemporary Arabic numerals at six and twelve o’clock and applied trapeze-shaped hour markers, offering a fresh yet timeless layout that beautifully matches the design language of the bigger sister of the Twenty~4 collection, the Twenty~4 Automatic. The 18ct white gold hour markers are applied by hand and are coated with a luminescent coating, allowing the wearer increased legibility in low light conditions, further solidifying the reputation of the Twenty~4 as a watch for any occasion.
The case remains almost identical to the outgoing model, with eighteen of the finest quality diamonds on both sides of the case, sandwiching the display, with each individual diamond hand-set by expert gemmologists in Geneva. The case, made of highly corrosion-resistant and hypo-allergenic stainless steel, retains its mirror polished finish and exudes an ethereal lustre. Taking inspiration from the age of Art Deco in the early 20th Century, the graceful form of the Twenty~4 makes for an extremely comfortable wristwatch with the shape of the case and the delicately arching bracelet caressing the wrist closely. The subtle difference between the two generations is thanks to a new crown – formerly set with an onyx cabochon, the new model is gently knurled and impregnated with the emblematic symbol of Patek Philippe – the Calatrava Cross. An icon of the Manufacture for over a century, the Calatrava Cross represents courage, chivalry and independence, all values that the Manufacture aims to personify.
Housed inside the voluptuous case of the Patek Philippe Twenty~4 is the ultra-thin and precise Caliber E15. In watchmaking, it is not typical for quartz movements to be decorated, nor to be constructed using many mechanical parts, however, Patek Philippe expertly blend the modern with the traditional by hand-finishing the movement as they would do with any of their other exquisite manually-wound or self-winding Calibers. Also, around eighty percent of the fifty-seven components of the Caliber E15 are mechanical, aligning the recent, modern technology of quartz alongside the eternal traditions of Genevan watchmaking, with finely fashioned and finished mechanical parts being regulated by a quartz crystal.
The new Patek Philippe Twenty~4 is available to explore further and both the blue sunburst and grey sunburst dial options retail for £11,300. These wonderful timepieces can be discovered online and at our magnificent Art-Deco showroom in Wilmslow where we are proud to offer the ultimate Patek Philippe experience.
