Georg Jensen has been around for more than a hundred years. The brand’s pieces include elegantly inspired homeware, watches, jewellery and hollowware. The brand is synonymous with quality craftsmanship and a timeless aesthetic design. Georg Jensen, the Danish silversmith, was born in 1866 in a small rural town north of Copenhagen. From a young age Georg Jensen began experimenting using blue clay turning his visons of nature into small figures he enjoyed, thus the beginning his artistic journey. At the age of 13 he joined his father at the cutlery factory making wooden forms used for metal casting.  It is here that he gained his extensive experience working on machines, exceptional craftsmanship, detailed metal-working and the treatment of workers. In 1904 Georg Jensen went on to open his own silversmith workshop producing fine silver jewellery and later hollowware and flatware. It is said that he would display his creations, or his work, in a case mounted on a wall outside of his shop throughout the day and take each piece in at the close of business.
