Your Chosen Design Explained...

At Prestons we understand that choosing a piece of jewellery is a very personal decision. Here we explore the individual elements of your chosen design and how they combine to create the value and beauty of this incredible piece.

A Solitaire Style

The solitaire is considered one of the most classic jewellery designs. In each instance, a singular diamond or precious stone is hand-selected to be the centerpiece of your chosen design. The gemstone, or gemstones, you select to create a solitaire pendant or solitaire pair of ear studs could be an array of different cuts or shapes based upon your existing jewellery pieces or your own personal style. The most traditional setting for this particular style is the classic four or six claw which truly allows the brilliance of your chosen gemstone to shine and sparkle through.

The Round Brilliant Cut

The round brilliant cut diamond is famously the most traditional diamond cut and has been around for many centuries. In 1919 the modern round brilliant cut was redefined by Marcel Tolkowsky who explored the specific angles and proportions which would allow the maximum amount of light, brilliance and fire to reflect through this precious and rare gemstone. Today, the brilliant-cut remains a timeless choice for a classic pair of diamond ear studs, a contemporary diamond bangle or an engagement ring with a truly brilliant sparkle.

Platinum

The metals or materials we choose for our fine jewellery collections are equally as important as the memories they hold. This exquisite precious metal is often the most popular choice throughout our bridal jewellery collections. In most instances, platinum is considered when selecting an engagement ring, due to its durability, its finish and, most importantly, its natural silver-white colour. It is, however, important to note that due this incredible durability this particular metal is more challenging to mould and sculpt and is therefore seen less often in fancy jewellery pieces or intricate designs in pieces such as earrings, necklaces or bracelets
